Are you tired of trying to lose weight the painful way? Cramming workouts and painfully turning down our favorite foods are not our ideal ways of losing weight. To most people, it may seem that the whole process is not only painful, but also a pain in the backside.
People hear the words: “lifestyle changes” and they are immediately turned off by the idea of losing weight. But, losing weight can be simpler than that. Changing your outlook on lifestyle modifications is imperative, and then you can progress to making simple alterations to your daily routine to increase your stamina and decrease your weight….painlessly.
Here are some simple ideas to make weight loss a less painful procedure:
1) Lighten up on your Favorites. You have your favorite foods and you can keep them. Instead of sacrificing everything that you love in the food department, find lower-calorie items that are similar to your temptations. There are low-fat ice-creams, low-fat crackers, diet sodas and even reduced-fat pizzas. In addition, sour cream, salad dressings, and mayonnaise can all be used in the reduced-fat or low fat brands. The main concept of this is to search for items that contain less fat or sugar than the foods that you love.
2) Go out to eat and split with a friend. Most of the meals at a restaurant are served on overly large plates. This goes for dinners, especially. Or order a couple of appetizers and split them, half and half. Split the cost and the calories.
3) Don’t encourage yourself to “work out” or “exercise”. Just those words can turn anyone off. By calling your work out something else completely, you can change your mind frame about exercising. Play outside with the kids, shoot some hoops, and swim in the pool. You can “exercise” without using the word and have fun, too.
4) Stop taking stuff away from yourself. Add foods to your diet, rather than taking them away. If you take unhealthy foods away from yourself, add even more healthier foods to your plate. Find some fruit and veggies that are in season and indulge in their succulent juices. Make your body feel like it is getting more if you eliminate anything from your diet.
5) Walk more. You go to the grocery store and look for the closest parking spot. Instead of this, look for the furthest parking spot and walk a little more. Go window shopping at the mall-you’re walking AND having fun. Get off at a bus stop a few stops before your place. Take the stairs instead of the elevator.
By altering the way that you look at exercising and eating, you can make losing weight far less painful. Figure out what you enjoy doing and turn those activities into part of your weight loss plan. Increase fun activities as you realize your weight dropping and how it affects your motivation. Losing weight does not have to be a painful procedure if you think outside of the box.
